Kenya: Government to spearhead formation of ICT Incubation Centre

The government (Kenya) aims to make Kenya an ICT capital of Africa to support Kenya's objectives of job and wealth creation.

By becoming Africa's ICT capital, Kenya will have created 1 million jobs and generated 350 billion shillings in ICT revenue.

According to the Information and Communication PS Ditange Ndemo, the Government will achieve this objective by setting up an authority to spur growth in the outsourcing business and reduce ICT equipment costs.

He says the Authority would employ the strategy that was used by the Kenya Tourism Board to market Kenya as tourist destination of choice.

Ndemo also hinted that when the ICT industrial park is finally established the government will encourage establishment of manufacturing plant for computers and other ICT accessories.

The PS says when the ICT industrial park is finally set up, the government will encourage establishment of manufacturing plant for computers and other ICT accessories.
