The Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Pikom) is calling on members and the local information and communications technology (ICT) industry players to participate in the World Congress on Information Technology 2006 (WCIT 2006) in Austin, Texas.
WCIT 2006, which will be held from May 1 to 5, is an important platform for Malaysian ICT players to showcase their products and services to the world, thus contributing to the development of the local ICT industry, Pikom said in a statement on Monday.
Pikom Chairman Lee Boon Kok said the WCIT event draws leaders from the business, government and academic sectors to discuss ICT policies, direct the future of technology, and drive social and economic development.
"The focus of WCIT is on macro issues around ICT innovation and making a positive impact on human lives. Therefore, Malaysian ICT companies should take this opportunity to sell themselves at the event," he said.
Lee said delegates at WCIT 2006 would have the opportunity to exchange ideas and forge new business relationships with over 2,000 technology leaders from 80 countries. He said there would also be interactive programmes focused on three global ICT issues -- privacy and security, digital access, and healthcare.
