Free computer training for youths in Nigeria

About 100 youths are to enjoy free computer training in the first batch of free computer training scheme of the Faruk Bamusa Education Foundation in Gombe State in Nigeria.

Sponsor of the programme, Alhaji Faruk Bamusa in a speech delivered at the orientation of the 1st batch of students, said the gesture was his own way of contributing to alleviate the problems of unemployment in the society.
According to him, the scheme, which aims at training idle youth on the basic usage of the computer to enable them to be self-reliant, will last for three months for each batch of 100 students with provision for expansion.

"Our aim in this programme is to ensure that youth are given the opportunity to also contribute their own quota to national development, we believe computer knowledge will assist them in achieving this," said Alhaji Faruk.
The member, governing council of the University of Jos explained that the programme for the first batch will have 20 units of computers with about the same number of instructors, while the focus will be on teaching the students on areas such as Ms dos, computer programming and the like.

The sponsor's contributions to the development of education in the state was last year recognised by a computer institute which conferred on him the award of an "Ambassador of Literacy."
