Removing TVs from bedrooms and reinstating family meal times could improve children's behaviour, a study suggests.
The research blamed a deterioration in children's behaviour over the past 30 years on ten key factors. These included poor diet and family breakdown.
Sue Palmer, a literacy expert who produced the report, said too many children were leading 'toxic' lifestyles. Many preferred to spend time in their room with their television or computer instead of interacting with their family, she said.
Communication between parents and children is further eroded by a decline in regular family meals.
