Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has decided to move the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of Indias (Trai) order reducing its share of access deficit charges (ADC) by 33% this fiscal.
The appeal, which will be filed very shortly, will urge that the ADC amount payable to BSNL should not be reduced. ADC is a levy on private mobile operators to fund the social obligations of BSNL.
The move to file the appeal with TDSAT was confirmed to FE by BSNLs counsel Maninder Singh. Paper work is on and very shortly the appeal will be filed in the TDSAT, Mr Singh said. Asked whether the company would urge a stay order on the current ADC regime, Singh said that the exact details of the petition are yet to be decided.
