IT training for teachers in Rwanda

Rwanda Development Gateway Group- a Government of Rwanda ICT for Development Project last Friday launched a countrywide program aimed at training secondary school teachers in information technology.

he programÂ’s launch took place at The National Center for Curriculum Development and was officiated by State Minister in the Ministry of Education in charge of primary and secondary education Mr. Joseph MUREKERAHO.

In his speech, Mr. said “there is a wide gap between rhetoric and reality on the ground” in matters ICT. He said that there are higher expectations among many that secondary schools have succeeded in implementing an IT literacy program which is not the case.

In many schools teachers have not received training and there are cases where computers have been damaged before they are even used” the Minister lamented.
