endors in telecommunication equipment and ICT technologies must be bracing for a lucrative multi-million dollar Community Information Centres' (CIC) project, announced by the government recently.
A hefty Frw1.68b (US$3m) will be invested in setting up hundreds of telecenters all over the country in three years, with an equal amount of about Frw560m ($1m) spent every year.
The project is a result of a study conducted by the Interna-tional Telecommunications Union (ITU) in 2002.
However, the funds could not be raised till this year and has been allocated from the govern- ment's current development budget.
Dr. Raphael Mmasi, project coordinator of the E-Rwanda project told Business Week that the number of the telecenters would depend on the location and population size to determine the investment for their needs
