Under the Rajiv Internet Village programme, the state government of Andhra Pradesh in India will soon set up, with private participation, eSeva franchisee centres in 446 villages in Krishna district. With this, the rural people can pay bills and fee relating to various Government services at the centres in their area.
Speaking after inaugurating a stall of Radiant Infosystems Pvt. Ltd., the franchisee owner of Rajiv Internet Village programme, at Krishna Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition here on Saturday, Joint Collector S. Suresh Kumar said that the rural centres would be set up at Kondapalli, Guntupalli and Nunna by this month-end.
Services of the Government departments and private organisations would be made available to villagers.
All facilities
He said the concept was aimed at providing rural people an access to communication technology and bridging the gap between Government departments and common man. He pointed out that almost all the facilities extended through urban eSeva centres would be offered through these rural franchisee centres also.
Villagers could pay electricity bills, telephone bills, insurance premia, fee for issue of caste, birth and death certificates, buy application forms for entrance and competitive examinations. Matrimonial websites could also be accessed at these centres.
Centre cost
Radiant Infosystems Private Limited, a Bangalore-based software company, would set up the centres.
A committee consisting of Government officials and representatives of the software firm would select beneficiaries to run the centres.
Radiant Infosystems Manager V.G. Krishna said the cost for setting up a rural eSeva centre would be Rs. 1.86 lakhs for major panchayats and Rs. 1.25 lakhs each for minor panchayats.
The beneficiaries, who would run the centres, would collect service charges from people. "One can earn around Rs. 10,000 per month by managing a rural eSeva centre," Mr. Krishna said.
