Software solution for rural scheme launched

Andhra Pradesh became the first State to implement an automated solution for the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekahara Reddy releasing an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution developed for the scheme by Tata Consultancy Services here on Monday.

Releasing the software solution, Dr. Reddy said that it would provide total accountability and transparency in implementing the scheme and act as a role model for the rest of the country. He said that with the Government striving to provide congenial atmosphere for the growth of the industry, Hyderabad had emerged the new software and hardware destination.

With the automated management of APREGS, the scheme has gone live in over 658 mandals across 13 districts. It will help in simplifying complex activities like issue of job cards to rural households, identification of work to be undertaken, generation of work estimates, work execution and wage payment. Irrespective of location, the beneficiaries could browse about their villages, work status and wage payments.

Rural Development Minister D. Srinivas said the development of the software solution by TCS had removed the scope for anybody to have doubts about transparent implementation of the scheme.
