The training courses on information and communication technologies (ICT) have started in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan.

The aim of these training courses, supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is to enhance ICT skills of the Parliamentarians in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the work processes.

During the training course the parliamentarians will acquire skills on the use of computer software, including Microsoft Office applications, Internet research, and other skills.

Organization of this training course is among other important tools necessary for the work of the newly established professional Parliament, which is also essential for further reforms in different aspects of social life of the country.

This event would be followed by a series of various professional training courses planned during the year for Parliament representatives.

These training courses are organized within the framework of the UNDP/Parliament joint project "Enhancement of the legislative and institutional capacities of the parliament". The key objective of the project is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of legislative processes and procedures through modernization of existing and development of new information resources, provision of easier access to legal and other relevant information, capacity building and training of the Parliamentarians and staff, introduction and application of ICT tools, organization of substantive workshops and conferences, and improvement of the library resources.
