The Ghanaian government has begun the implementation of a strategic action-plan to effectively transform the country into West Africas regional information and communication technology hub by 2010.
The blueprint for this initiative was prepared in collaboration with the World Bank, which provided a US$40million grant to assist the ongoing project embarked upon by the Ghanaian government to ring the entire country with fibre optic cable and develop ICT infrastructure across the country. This development will boost widespread internet access in both urban and remote areas, reduce the bandwidth as well as accelerate the empowerment of Ghanaians with ICT knowledge and skills, which have become vital in todays digital world.
