Neil Wholy of MORI Research in his presentation remarked that the "The digital divide is complex and can be defined in many ways Use, access, experience, confidence
.."
The presentations raised many questions:
By whatever definition older citizens, and those in lower social groups, are more likely to be on the wrong side of the divide.
Will persuading these groups to use the internet and new technology now be more important than providing access? Is there really universal access to the internet? If so what websites/applications can encourage those on the wrong side of the digital divide to cross over? Is it a matter of raising confidence levels?
