Story Story evokes the sights, sounds and smell of a market community, as we are transported this vibrant West African setting. We hear voices in triumph and sorrow, voices in protest against, and voices confronting deeply personal challenges - such as dealing with HIV.
About the project
Story Story is part of Voices, a national public education broadcasting project for Nigeria. It is a collaborative project with the UK's Department for International Development in Nigeria (DFID), and the BBC World Service Trust. Story Story is a radio drama set in a busy market in the heart of West Africa. Through its characters - traders, farmers, people with money and power who inhabit the market, we hear the voices of real people.
Story Story evokes the sights, sounds and smell of a market community, as we are transported this vibrant West African setting. We hear voices in triumph and sorrow, voices in protest against, and voices confronting deeply personal challenges - such as dealing with HIV.
Through dramatic events and the richness of the characters, the programmes explore such issues as: governance, rights and responsibilities.
The drama also tackles the poverty issues that stifle development, and which form the eight targets set by United Nations, or the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's).
Story Story encourages this wider debate by drawing attention to, the empowerment of women, education and environmental sustainability to state a few.
