Nigeria, South Korea sign MOU on ICT

Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency and the Korea Agency for Digital Opportunity and Promotion at the weekend signed a Memorandum of Understanding to increase information communication technology penetration in Nigeria.
NITDA Director-General Cleopas Angaye said the MOU signed in the capital Abuja covered "capacity building to ensure that more than 10 Nigerians pursued PhD programs in Internet access yearly in Korea." He added that the understanding would also "create opportunities for ICT(information communication technology) experts from (South) Korea to visit Nigeria yearly to conduct train-the-trainer programs on ICT." According to him, the Nigerian government will embrace any initiatives aimed at broadening understanding and utilisation of ICT in the country. He said ICT had become an international tool for achieving accelerated socioeconomic development and Nigeria would tap available opportunities to become a major player in the global ICT industry. more... |
