Nigeria has received a 200-million-dollar soft loan to popularise Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the rural areas.
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Director General Cleopas Angaye made this known, in Abuja Thursday, when members of the House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology visited him.
Angaye said that the loan was acquired from an Asian corporation with repayment schedules covering more than 15 years.
He said that the loan would be used to deploy the agency’s Mobile Internet Units (MIU) to rural areas as part of efforts to stimulate interest in ICT in the country.
