Call for participation for journalists
The Web2forDev 2007 is the first international conference to discuss how new Internet tools commonly known as Web 2.0 can be used to the advantage of Southern actors to more efficiently network, collaborate and exchange information in the field of rural and agricultural development and natural resource management.

CTA, an EU funded organization, will support three journalists from Africa, the Caribbean or the Pacific (ACP countries) to attend the conference and lead its daily coverage. The conference is initiated by CTA, organized & supported by CTA, FAO, IICD, GTZ and will be hosted by FAO in Rome, Italy.

The daily digest
The selected journalists will be responsible for preparing a multimedia (text, images and voice) Daily Digest and to publish it via the conference blog.

The digest will consist – for instance – of short articles on the presentations, interviews with participants and presenters and special focus to capture the “open space spirit” of the event. The objective is to offer an insight to those who could not attend.

Depending on the selected journalists, the Daily Digest will be based on written and audio recorded material.

If you’re interested, you should meet the following criteria:

• Being an experienced journalist, national from an ACP country (interviewing, drafting and editing material);
• Experience in ICTs, online publishing (blogging) and Web 2.0;
• Having already published / broadcast material on ICTs and Web 2.0 issues;
• Keen in participating in the production of the Daily Digest;
• Capacity to raise awareness on the conference before, during and after the event through personal network and activities (e.g. personal blog);
• Fluency in English or/and French

Selected journalists will have the opportunity to attend the conference at FAO in Rome, Italy, meet key actors of the ICTs for Development community and get important exposure. CTA will cover their travel, accommodation and visa expenses. In addition CTA will pay a per diem according to its rules and regulations and recognise a daily fee. Selected journalists will be allowed to make further use of the gathered materials.

To apply:
Please send to radio@cta.intan e-mail explaining (max 400 words) how you would organise yourself to produce a daily digest in a team, and by which means and channels you would be in the position to further disseminate acquired information when back in your country.

In addition, please submit a list of published articles or radio-video programs featuring web2 applications and your resume.

An introductory section (max 400 words) should summarise your experience on ICT4D and or Web2. You have to inform us whether you’ll be in the position to carry your own equipment (WIFI-enabled laptop, digital camera and/or voice recorder).

Check out the Web2fordev Conference website.
