The on-line Electronic University U21 Global, compiling 19 of world's leading universities, was today launched in Bangladesh by President Iajuddin Ahmed.
"We need capable human resources enriched with IT
knowledge to cope with challenges ahead and to attain desired and sustainable development. The new dimension of on-line education will help in disseminating IT knowledge to students and professionals, " he said.
The Electronic University or U21 Global is an institution which compiles 19 of the world leading universities to provide on-line education and training to the students, academicians and researchers.
"Interested students and professionals will get ample opportunity in building career and professional skills using the on-line technology. I welcome the initiative," he said adding the developing country was striving hard for its rapid and sustainable development.
The president expected the institution to undertake appropriate curricula in consonance with the world class standard for the benefit of the students.
"I hope the organiser will keep an open eye on U21 Global to protect the interest of our people and the nation as a whole," Ahmed, who is also a professor, said.
"Education, both general and technical, is the main tool to elevate the intrinsic value of every individual with a view to fostering knowledge and wisdom," he said.
Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, formersecretary and ex-chairman of Bangladesh Telephone egulatory Commission (BTRC) Syed Marghub Morshed and the faculty members of the university were present at the function.
