On the 9th and 10th of December CSDMS and GKP will host the second i4d Film Festival at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After the tremendous success of the first festival, with the overwhelming response in the form of content, the festival will now take place over two days instead of one. The content of the festival has been expanded to include workshops and discussion groups.
Journey till now
Over the past ten years, CSDMS has hosted many international conferences and been producing extensive content in the form of its four magazines, however the limitations of the spoken and written word usually excludes a vast majority of the effected community from the discussions.
A lot of community-generated content, which focuses on the needs of the grassroots community, is available in the form of videos. This content, however, is scattered.
The i4d Film Festival, Beyond the Mainstream was an attempt to bring together this community of filmmakers. The filmmakers are farmers, vegetable-sellers, slum dwellers, street children and just everyday members of the community.
The concept of the i4d Film Festival was borne when many NGOs, non-governmental international as well as governmental agencies came forward to share their experiences with the forum in the form of short films.
The film festival held on the 3rd of August 2007 at New Delhi brought together over 20 organisations.
