Computer learning centres on wheels

GAIL India Ltd. has launched a major education initiative, called e-Shiksha for villages. GAIL has also flagged off two Mobile Computer Aided Learning Centres of cost INR 6 million.

The project is being implemented in association with NGO Aurobindo Chaudhari Memorial Great Indian Dream Foundation (GIDF).

The e-Shiksha programme is part of the CSR activities and it is aiming to provide basic computer knowledge in local languages to school students and to school dropouts in rural areas in the vicinity of GAIL's plants at Pata and Vijaipur.

In this regard, GAIL has contributed INR 6.3 million for the Mobile Computer Aided Learning Centres which includes two buses at a cost of Rs. 50 lakhs, each equipped with 18 laptops, a Generator and AC system.

The Centre will have a qualified computer instructor to teach the children. The bus is especially designed and fabricated for the purpose can accommodate 30 learners at any given time.

The bus will move from one school to another in the villages wherein each class will run for two hours and thus 3-4 batches can be trained in a day.
