14.12.2003 Civil society representatives presented an 'alternative' declaration on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva. The declaration - called “Shaping information societies for human needs” - was needed because the official process has constantly been disillusioning and frustrating, said civil society representatives at a conference. 12.12.2003 Saying the process had been "disillusioning and frustrating," civil society delegates at the World Summit on the Information Society presented an "alternative declaration" yesterday, which calls for information societies that are free from discrimination and conflict and based on a framework of social, political and economic justice and a more equitable distribution of resources.
