06.11.2003 At a ceremony held in Colombia, the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) announced the winners of the 2003 Betinho Prize - three remarkable information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives from Peru, Mexico and Argentina that are improving the lives of people and communities in Latin America. Two Brazilian networks received honourable mentions.

05.11.2003 The Association for Progressive Communications and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation have produced an "ICT Policy for Civil Society" training pack. The pack aims to assist civil society organisations to understand and engage with policy and regulations related to information and communication technologies.

The Association for Progressive Communications awarded $2500 prizes to three ICT initiatives that are improving the lives of people and communities in Latin America. They include: ICTs as Tools of Sustainable Development in the Cotahuasi Basin, Peru; Indigenous Information Network (Red de Información Indígena), México and Tiflolibros, First Electronic Library for the Visually Impaired Spanish-Speakers, Argentina.
