G8 leaders meeting in Gleneagles, Scotland, today reached agreement on an accord aimed at combating climate change - without setting concrete goals. French President Jacques Chirac described it as an important step, even if it did not go as far as he and other leaders wanted.

La capital británica, Londres, ha sido sacudida por una serie de atentados contra el transporte público, durante la hora punta de la mañana. Los datos recibidos indican que se habrían producido por lo menos 4 explosiones en el metro y una en un autobús. El primer ministro británico, Tony Blair, calificó los atentados de "una barbarie" y esta tarde estará en Londres procedente de Escocia, donde asiste a la cumbre del G8.

A number of explosions have occurred in central London. There have been reports about several explosions on buses, including one on a double-decker bus in Tavistock Square. London Transport says a numberof people have been killed.
