18.03.2005 Venezuela has begun to turn over unused or underused chunks of publicly-owned land occupied by private landowners and businesses to landless farmers. Opponents of President Chavez say the land redistribution is just the beginning of a programme aimed at bringing full Cuban-style socialism to the country, but analysts say this is the best way to combat the scourge of poverty in Latin America.

15.03.2005 President Bush surprised some by positing that the U.S. should abide by a recent decision of the International Court of Justice in The Hague that 51 death sentences for Mexicans in the U.S. should be reviewed. Bush then followed-up by pulling the U.S. out of the part of the 1969 treaty that makes the court's decisions binding.

Seu discurso tem um tom de quem quer um governo de mudanças. Aos 65 anos, ele disse a população de 3,5 milhões de habitantes que vai trabalhar incansavelmente pelo país e pelo benefício dos uruguaios mais pobres.
