13.03.2003 The SOS Sudan Association has successfully set up schools to provide uninterrupted education to the children of Sudanese refugees in Uganda. The refugees were so fired with the need for education for children that they set up schools soon upon their arrival in Uganda. These schools teach more than 10,000 children.

13.03.2003 Uganda is preparing for the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) in December, consulting with the civil society and others for its inputs. It has created a National WSIS Taskforce that will continue through with preparations for the second WSIS summit in 2005.

06.03.2003 The Women of Uganda Network recently organised a meeting on "Information sharing on the application of ICTs". Participating NGOs shared information on the application of ICTs in their work and made a number of recommendations for a way forward in such applications.

11.02.2003 The Open Source Task Force for Africa is calling for individuals and organisations working or interested in Open Source to submit their contact details in order to build a knowledge database on Open Source. The taskforce also plans to create a listserve that will focus on the creation of the Open Source Foundation for Africa.
