15.02.2005 As part of its program of supporting the generation and communication of research from developing countries – GDN is organising a practical workshop to enhance the knowledge sharing and research dissemination capacity of research institutes and networks in Africa. This workshop, which will be held in English and French, will bring together people from across the continent who are responsible for communicating the wealth of research knowledge currently being produced in Africa – these may be librarians, administrators, information officers, knowledge managers or researchers. Drawing on success stories from within Africa, the workshop will explore the practical aspects of knowledge sharing, relevant strategies, tools and methodologies that have proven successful in development organizations.

ICT plans should take into account gender issues
13.09.2004 In order to take advantage of new ICTs that have been developed to combat poverty and achieve sustainable development in Africa, women in Africa need to actively participate in ICT initiatives. The Conference on Women and ICT is to be held at the Arusha International Conference Centre, Arusha, Tanzania on 18-20 October 2004 to draw a roadmap for the caucus that will enable effective participation at WSIS-Tunis 2005.

06.07.2004 The Women of Uganda Network, an NGO promoting the use of ICTs by women, has received a grant from Dutch agency Hivos. The funds will be used to support and expand the organisation's activities in spreading the use of ICTs among women.
