The emergence of the Internet provides people with a real opportunity to produce and deliver news at a reduced and affordable cost. For this reason, media power, which had been monopolised by capital and authority, is changing. The Internet newspaper is a fine example of how the Internet is changing the concept of media ownership.

02.03.2004 The World Summit on the Information Society was the first global multilateral forum dedicated to discussing governance issues and policies in relation to communication, since the so-called digital revolution took centre stage. Yet the Summit came and went almost unnoticed by the public, and much less as something of concern to them.

There are many genuine efforts afoot to deploy ICTs more effectively for development, calling for us all to ‘think outside the box’.
