Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise
06.03.2007 The Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise has documented climate change in Greenland, defended whales against Japanese harpoons and taken investigators to blow the whistle on forest crime in the Amazon. Now it's fighting government plans to replace the Trident nuclear weapons system by staging a music event in London on Thursday and opening itself to the public over the weekend.

16.02.2007 A "public consultation" to determine UK views on the use of nuclear energy was a sham, said the country's high court Thursday, chastising the government and compelling a new review. But the Blair administration appears undeterred in its push for new nuclear reactors.

Campagna Antinucleare inglese
16.02.2007 After yesterday's court ruling that the government's "consultation" on energy - which paved the way for new nuclear power stations - was "misleading" and "seriously flawed" - Prime Minister Tony Blair commented, "This won't affect the policy at all" and Trade and Industry Minister Alistair Darling promised "to put it right and consult properly, to make sure we can get the process back on track."
In other words: public consultation is a sham because we are going nuclear anyway.
