18.05.2004 Ääriliikkeiden uskonnollista tai rasistista vihaa lietsovat sivustot ovat hälyttävää vauhtia lisääntyneet erityisesti Britanniassa ja Yhdysvalloissa. Tämän vuoden tammikuusta toukokuuhun sivustojen määrä on kasvanut neljänneksellä, kertoo tuore tutkimus. Yksi syy ilmiölle löytyy tutkijoiden mukaan Irakin ja Afganistanin tapahtumista ja niiden uutisoinnista.

03.05.2004 Kothmale FM Community Radio in Sri Lanka has started a pilot project to assess the possibility of combining radio and Internet to serve the information needs of rural communities. Radio listeners can send their questions by post to the radio station. Radio programme hosts and volunteers then use the Internet to research the listener’s questions and broadcast answers on the radio.

05.04.2004 UNESCOn Thaimaan-toimiston aloittaa hankkeen, joka pyrkii tuomaan köyhille kyläläisille uusia toimeentulomahdollisuuksia tuomalla informaatioteknologiaa heidän ulottuvilleen. Samalla kylien välinen kommunikaatio ja kyläläisten osallistumismahdollisuudet paranevat. Hanketta toteutetaan Laosissa, Sri Lankassa, Thaimaassa, Uzbekistanissa ja Indonesiassa.

24.03.2004 The first Global ICT Summit, with the theme "From Adversity to Success - The World's Best e-Content & e-Creativity Experience", will be held in Hong Kong from 10 to 15 May 2004. This international event is expected to bring together 400 ICT experts and professionals from over 20 countries to share the best practices in e-content and e-creativity as well as to discuss and exchange knowledge and ideas that will shape the future of global ICT development and help bridge the digital divide on an international level.
