Chinese minister warns against AIDS cover-up

Chinese Vice Premier and Health Minister Wu Yi has warned that anyone caught trying to cover up the HIV/AIDS epidemic will be severely punished, according to a story published in the Straits Times. "It must be reported timely and faithfully," he said during a national AIDS conference in Beijing.

A long-awaited bill on women's rights presented before Pakistan's National Assembly has split MPs in the opposition and government parties, including the president and prime minister. It seeks to abolish laws discriminating against women, including the Islamic Hudood ordinance, which opponents say fails to separate rape from adultery. Conservatives say MPs should not abolish laws that were made in the name of Islam.
