In the context of the campaign against violence against women (until 10th December), CRIS Campaign is highlighting how the media reports on violence against women. The challenge before the media is to move beyond clubbing what happens to women with routine crime briefs, on the one hand, and sensational stories, on the other, to cover "the greatest human rights scandal of our times". Ammu Joseph looks at media coverage of violence against women.

A Marrakesch, in Marocco, si è svolta una sessione preparatoria al vertice dell’Onu sulla società dell’informazione (Wsis) che si terrà nel 2005 in Tunisia. Secondo i rappresentati della Federazione internazionale dei giornalisti ha richiamato il governo tunisino ma ha confermato che non boicotterà il vertice per denunciare le pratiche di censura che esistono nel paese. Presente anche la campagna CRIS che sta facendo pressioni sull’Unesco in merito alle modifiche spinte verso gli interessi delle multinazionali della Convenzione per i Diritti sulla diversità culturale. Intanto in Italia, in difesa della libertà d’informazione nasce Mediacoop.
