Actor Ron Livingston is famous for many roles: co-star of Office Space, a role on Sex and the City, and a lead in this summer’s Little Black Book. At ACCION, he’s played a leading part by designating his winnings on the World Poker Tour Hollywood Home Game to eliminate poverty. The show airs at 8pm on July 9th on the Travel Channel, and features a group of celebrities competing for a piece of the overall prize.

Recruited by the Colombian government to teach the ABCs of business to former paramilitary group members, ACCION International's staff had apprehensions about working closely with such an unpredictable group. In partnership with a consortium of seven other public and private organizations, including ACCION International, HP today announced the global release of an open source microfinance solution that is designed to change the way millions of people in the developing world access credit. The Remote Transaction System (RTS) – a cost-effective means of tracking loan information even in rural and remote areas with little or no local infrastructure – is the culmination of a two-year collaboration by the group of thought leaders in microfinance, technology and business, and a six-month on-the-ground pilot program in Uganda.
