05.05.2003 The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), will contribute $143.6-million to immunization and vitamin A programs aimed at preventing disease and improving the health of millions of children living in developing countries. The announcement came last week from Susan Whelan, Canada's Minister for International Cooperation.

Within the G7, Canada moves from fifth to third place — ahead of Germany, Japan, Italy and the United States, behind France and the United Kingdom. Early estimates indicate that Canada's development assistance grew from $2.37-billion in 2001 to $3.16-billion in 2002.
