Susan Whelan, Minister for International Cooperation, today announced that Canada will contribute $9.4-million over the next five years to support small and medium enterprise development in Bangladesh. "One of the key elements to reduce poverty," Minister Whelan said, "is the ability to increase the capacity of the poor to participate in the economy through access to income-generating activities."

Canada's Minister for International Cooperation yesterday announced a contribution of up to $4-million over four years to the Canadian Centre on Disability Studies to support reform policies and services for disabled people in Russia. The announcement marked this year's International Day of Disabled Persons - which promotes the participation of people with disabilities in social life and development by improving their well-being and livelihoods on the basis of equality.
