ŽINEC – ANIMA (Women’s Informational Educational Centre Montenegro)
Women’s Information Educational Center Montenegro (Ženski informativno edukativni centar Crne Gore) divided at the end of 2000 when the Open Society Institute Montenegro patronized the founding of ANIMA, Kotor (Association for Culture of Peace and Non-Violence). The two divisions of ŽINEC – ANIMA encompass four thematic segments: interdisciplinary educational programs for women’s/gender studies using alternative methods of learning and contemporary gender-based theories; publishing projects such as the ŽINEC bulletin; research attempting to expose the position of women in Montenegro (in 2003 research was carried out about gender stereotypes in textbooks in Montenegrin primary schools, followed by publication of brochures containing the results; and INDOK (information-documentation center) with a women’s archive and database, gathering and disseminating facts about the position of women in society.
