31.08.2006 Sri Lankan organisation Sarvodaya is holding a meditation for peace initiative on October 2, 2006 - Mahatma Gandhi's birthday - at the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Sarvodaya expects to host one million people from all over the world - the largest gathering in Sri Lanka’s history - clad in white clothes to meditate for peace.

27.12.2004 Il bilancio del maremoto che ha investito parte dell’Asia meridionale e del Sudest asiatico potrebbe essere tra le 30 e 50mila vittime ed è destinato a crescere. Centinaia i dispersi tra i turisti italiani tra cui solo in Thailandia si registrano 11 vittime. La corsa della solidarietà internazionale è già iniziata con la Commissione europea, Onu, Stati Uniti e numerose organizzazioni umanitarie tra cui Medici Senza Frontiere, Save the Children, Caritas Italiana e la Croce Rossa Internazionale. In Sri Lanka si è attivata una rete di solidarietà di volontari animata dal movimento Sarvodaya. Dal Unicef Italia arriva l'appello ai media italiani perché, al di là della evidente preoccupazione per i nostri connazionali in vacanza, si mobilitino immediatamente aiuti per i bambini e le famiglie povere dei paesi colpiti, vittime di questa catastrofe naturale.

16.12.2004 The Sarvodaya Information Technology programme initiated in 1997, in a small room as a pilot project using a single computer intended to serve villages of Rathnapura District has been extended to other Sri Lankan districts as well, making it a national level telecentre project.
