Potential volunteers from all continents are welcomed at Geekcorps, the U.S.-based organization that matches information technology professionals with different communities around the world. The group makes the experience as safe as possible for volunteers (interns are not sent to organizations in Gaza and other hot spots) and, as low cost as possible (the group pays airfare and insurance for volunteers).

Ian Howard, from Canada, works with a community radio project in Mali. Lawrence Kaaria from Kenya helps to design business information systems in Romania. Ravi Bindra, from South London, works on network security in Lebanon. They are all volunteers with Geekcorps, a the U.S.-based non-profit organization that places international technology volunteers with projects in developing countries.
