Si è svolta a Kandahar agli inizi di settembre la conferenza "Donne e Costituzione" cui hanno preso parte donne provenienti da tutto l'Afghanistan. Il documento conclusivo ha elencato in 16 punti i diritti che le donne rivendicano nella nuova Costituzione ed è stato consegnato al Presidente Hamid Karzai. Intanto tre scuole per ragazze sono state distrutte da gruppi legati all’ex regime dei talebani. Ammontano così a 19 le scuole femminili attaccate nel Paese.

Afghan women held a meeting in Kandahar earlier this month to discuss their bill of rights. They have demanded mandatory education till the secondary level and opportunities for women for higher education. The bill also listed demanded better health services and security for women and children.
