Chhattisgarh Bags the Best e-Governed State Award

Chhattisgarh has won national awards in three out of four e-Governance categories at the yearly Computer Society of India (CSI) Nihilent e-Governance Awards.
16 December 2008: CSI-Nihilent e-Governance Awards 2007-08 was announced at Hyderabad on 8th December in which Chhattisgarh was selected as the Best e-Governed State in India.
These awards were won by Chhattisgarh in close competition with advanced states like Karnataka, Kerala, Goa and Madhya Pradesh. Gujarat had been getting the Best e-Governed State Award for the last two years.
The awards also selected the Food Department of the State as the Best e-Governed Department, and the e-Procurement project of the state was selected as best e-governance project in the country.
Chhattisgarh's online citizen services under CHOiCE project, is already operational in six districts and the project is being rolled out to all other districts as well very soon.
Under e-Procurement project, online tenders amounting to INR 2200 crores have been processed.
In the latest e-Readiness survey of Government of India, Chhattisgarh has been placed at the top in the country in the category of 'Aspiring Leaders' along with Karnataka, Delhi and Chandigarh with regard to usage of information technology.
