The Indian President also asked the universities to boost rural enrolment in higher education by arranging courses designed for students.

The Indian President, Pranab Mukherjee has called upon universities to harness the potential of information and communication technology in designing curricula and improving the quality of course material to cater to growing needs of students.

Addressing the annual convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU, in New Delhi today, Pranab Mukherjee said that the old study material should be constantly updated reflecting the new requirements.

The President asked the universities to boost rural enrolment in higher education by arranging courses designed for students living in remote and far-flung areas of the country. Mukherjee said universities should also synergize students in the task of nation building.
