CRY’s online campaign to highlight barriers to education

Child Rights and You (CRY), an Indian NGO has launched ‘Click Rights’, an online photography campaign to capture the barriers that keep children out of school. CRY invites citizens from all walks of life to click photographs of children who are not going to school in and around the city at large.

Child Rights and You, an Indian NGO working for child rights, in association with HCL technologies foundation has launched an online photo-journalism campaign called ‘click rights’ – Focus on the Child. The online initiative is aimed at pictorially highlighting the barriers to education still faced by lakhs of children in India.

CRY invites citizens from all walks of life to click photographs of children who are not going to school  in  and around the city at large.The campaign begins on 16th July and will go on for month.

Speaking about the campaign, Soha Moitra, Regional Director,CRY, says, “Click Rights is CRY’s flagship initiative that aims to use photography to raise public awareness about critical issues confronting children in India today. This year, the focus is on the reasons why children are still out of school, despite the Rights To Education act being enforced three years ago.”She added,"the idea was to reach out to maximum people and get public opinion on various problems faced by deprived children"

CRY urges citizens to step up and join the call for effective policies that will fundamentally ensure the health, safety, development and happiness of each child in the country regardless of social and economic background and the ‘Click Rights’ initiative is a  part of this endeavour.  The photos collected will be attached as photographic evidence to a list of demands  to the ministry of Human Resources and Development.

In particular, CRY aims to mobilise first-time voters, particularly the young people between 18-22 years. “We at CRY believe very strongly in the “You” of Child Rights and You,we believe that the 110 million first-time voters can become strong advocates for the rights of children. As they prepare to exercise their electoral rights for the first time as citizens of India, we hope that they will also consider and speak up for the right of every child to a healthy, happy childhood.”said Moitra.
